Although it rarely gets used in photography for print, this little unit has been very useful for testing and demonstration.
It is an unfiltered laser from eBay. Normally, I warn against buying lasers from eBay without knowing the IR percentages.
I bought this one before I was aware of the need for a filter on a DPSS laser. I didn't find out about IR filtering
until soon after placing my order. As it was reasonably low powered and inexpensive, I decided to keep it and used it to test
various IR detection methods.
The only other unfiltered DPSS laser I purchased, a 150mW eBayser, was returned because I deemed it unsafe for use due
to its extremely high IR leakage and uneconomical because of its actual 532nm output - The 150mW rating was based on the green/IR
mix.
When seen in IR photography through a 532nm filter, this 8mW eBayser appears brighter than the Fusion because the Fusion
is only putting out about half a milliwatt of IR compared to the 2mW from the eBayser.
